Testing
Shaw Contract sets strict quality standards and tests all products to meet or exceed industry standards and regulatory requirements for the product's intended use. Shaw Contract products are tested using ASTM and ISO standards.
ISO:
ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world’s largest developer and publisher of International Standards. ISO is a network of the national standards institutes of 162 countries, one member per country, with a Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, that coordinates the system. ISO is a non-governmental organization that forms a bridge between the public and private sectors with members in both the governmental and private sectors. ISO enables a consensus to be reached on solutions that meet both the requirements of business and the broader needs of society.
ASTM:
ASTM International, formerly known as the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), is a globally recognized leader in the development and delivery of international voluntary consensus standards. Today, some 12,000 ASTM standards are used around the world to improve product quality, enhance safety, facilitate market access and trade, and build consumer confidence. ASTM members deliver the test methods, specifications, guides and practices that support industries and governments worldwide.
TESTING VARIANCE:
Although we strive to make sure our product specifications are as accurate as possible, some results may vary. Specifications for tufted weight, gauge and stitches have a +/- 7 % tolerance. Finished pile thickness, which is an average of pile heights, can vary on multi-level products. Since density and total thickness are based on finished pile thickness, these results will not necessarily fall within the +/- 7% tolerance as these results are likely to vary on multi-level products. The finished weight on sheared products will always be less than the tufted weight. Specifications listed on the product specification (spec) sheet may change without notice.
