BVB
BVB (Byggvarubedömningen) is a Swedish non-profit organisation specialising in the assessment of construction products in terms of their environmental and health impact.
The aim of the organisation is to promote sustainable and pollutant-free construction, contributing to a healthier environment for present and future generations.
How BVB Works
The platform evaluates construction products based on criteria including chemical content and environmental impact over the entire life cycle.
The criteria follow strict national and international standards including REACH, the CLP regulation, as well as directives on human rights and environmental protection.
🟢 Recommended (Green) – The product meets high standards for chemical safety and environmental performance. It is strongly encouraged for use in sustainable construction.
🟡 Accepted (Yellow) – The product is permitted but may contain substances or characteristics that warrant attention. Use is acceptable but may require further consideration depending on the project’s sustainability goals.
🔴 To Avoid (Red) – The product includes substances or environmental impacts that conflict with sustainable and healthy building practices. It is discouraged for use.
Three tier system enables informed, sustainable building choices without the need for specialist knowledge.
A key feature is the logbook tool, which ensures full traceability of built-in products, helping to identify substances that may pose future risks despite currently being considered safe.
